Présentation of  the European Association of Stone Masons and Sculptors “EASMS”

As in some European countries arts and crafts cannot be learned from scratch any longer but also to preserve knowledge that has been passed on from generation to generation the „European Association Stonemasons and Sculptors“ wants to create the „ intercultural workshops“. By the means of these intercultural workshops we intend to organize an international exchange for Compagnion and Stone Masons Masters.

The main goals of our association are:

° Make the exchange of views on the European level easier for the instructors, the Masters and at the same time promote the new generation of stonemasons and sculptors.
° Preserve and pass on specific knowledge and skills of the profession by these „ Workshops» and in this way re-create or promote schools for stone-cutters and sculptors to contribute to the development of arts and crafts.
° Train qualified manpower according to the demands of the firms and support people who are also capable to carry on a company and thus create employment for stonemasons and sculptors.

For that purpose, we work in collaboration with: “European Association of buiding Craft & Design “  http://www.eacd.cc

and UNESCO et l’ICOMOS “International Council on Monuments and Sites” http://www.icomos.org

The project is based on the passing on of skills by direct teaching, done by instructors or master craftsmen of the most important schools for stone-cutters in Europe.

For this reason our sponsors will create the „ intercultural workshops“and the set goals are high and precise. This stands for new constructions as well as for the renovation of historical buildings.

In our opening to alterity and foreign languages these intercultural workshops build the basis for the acknowledgment of the equal dignity of all cultures.

They teach us that the identity of every people has its profound roots in the past and that diversity is the essence itself of our world.

We guarantee all those who place confidence in our association we guarantee an understandable and transparent working method which of course is never profit seeking.

Our first workshops shall take place in Europe but also in Turkey along the coasts of the Aegean and the Mediterranean Sea, first contacts with the Lebanon, Syria, Libya, Tunisia and Algeria have already been made.

To adhere to our association, the annual contribution is of 15 € for the private individuals, 35 € for the schools and of 70 € for silent partners or companies.
